We are grateful to Jane Ammeson who wrote an article about the Castle and my book in the Northwest Indiana Times. The article is “The Castle, in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood, still inspires love, longing; new book highlights its history, offers a tour.” (July 15, 2018) It has a few small errors but is very well written. Here’s the link with the article archived below:

Corrections

  • When he first started, old newspaper were on microfiche….should be When he first started, almost all old newspapers were on microfilm.
  • Givens (misspelled)…should be Givins
  • Built his castle in 1887-88…should be 1886-87
  • On Miroslaw Siemens: “He was a medical doctor of Ukrainian descent and his wife was the founder of the Ukrainian National Museum.” No, Miroslaw Siemens was a founder of the Museum. He was not “the” founder, nor was his wife a founder.
